The dog part is coming, honest.
How Am I Eating?
I’m trying really hard not to get immersed in the news, so I’m filling my mind with more important things, like, um, good nutrition! Yes! I try to cook a meal for Anita at least once a week, since she’s not a “cooker.” Last night I found some non-wheat pasta with quinoa, corn, and chickpea flour. I cooked it. I combined an organic tomato sauce with black beans and some kind of re-constituted Chinese mushrooms (labeled “fungus” on the package).

Does that sound weird? Yes. But it was good. The pasta does not pass for beautiful semolina pasta, but it has a reasonable texture and should make my triglycerides happy.
How’s That Renovation?
Hey, thanks for asking. I guess Lee hasn’t been over there to take pictures, but Cody did send me one last night. They took the plaster off one of the entry hallways. Oh my, that looks nice.

I think this affirms our tentative decision to paint that trim all white. I’m extra glad to see the wallpaper trim go.
And Now, Dogs
As you may recall, my black dachshund-like dog, Vlassic, ate hunks of foam rubber, and it made him sick. After I wrote my post, there was some additional fall-out in the form of doggie barf in various spots. Anita dutifully cleaned what she found up, and I cleaned two more up when I got home. I’m happy to report that Vlassic’s systems have returned to normal and I got sleep last night.
TMI Alert
BUT, one of the things that showed up in barf was a hunk of foam. By the time Anita got back to clean it up, it was gone. So, we spent the evening wondering who ate the disgusting foam.
The answer is…Pickle! Anita got to enjoy the sleepless night I had Tuesday night, along with plenty of up-chucking and wriggling. Poor Anita and Pickle.

At least we now know what’s more disgusting than eating and passing foam rubber chunks: eating and re-barfing barfed-up foam rubber chunks.
Additional Note
Yesterday, Lee posted a blog entry about the restaurant closings in Cameron, and thanks to many forwards, it blew up our Hermit Haus Redevelopment website! I’m sharing it here, in case you’re interested.
One helpful tidbit from the comments on one of the shares is that the Bush’s Chicken is supposed to re-open next month. My need for fried okra can be satisfied again (in reasonable portions).
