Best Day for Unusual Snowfall Is Sunday

Hooray! The minute I wrote that the weather was boring, it started getting interesting. While we do get a dusting of snow here in Central Texas, today is the first time I’ve ever seen it really snow. It’s been as pretty as when I was in Utah!

Here’s the woods next to the house.

We got around 4 inches as the day went on, and at times it snowed pretty hard. I’m so glad I didn’t have to work today, because all I did was look out the window

Around midday

The most fun, though has been going out and playing with the dogs. Here’s the best one.

Alfred discovers snow. It’s barely covering the ground here.

Penney and Carlton acted like the snow was a big present for them. I’ve never seen them happier. Here’s the first time they went out.

Harvey finds sheltered spots to pee, then comes back in. Not a snow dog. The others sure are. I took Penney and Carlton out in the woods, and the joy all three of us felt was enough to erase all my stress.

One of my favorite posts was the one I wrote about loving to exercise in the cold. I proved it again today, because I walked all over the property to get photos today. Who knows when we will have weather like this again?

I’ve never seen our front pond like this. It was really snowing hard here.

Damn, I had fun today. Snow makes me feel clean and crisp, like there’s a blank slate for the world. I hope you enjoy these photos.

So, how were the other animals? The chickens mostly hung out in the garage, but a couple braved the snow.

No legs!

The horses were fine. I gave them extra hay.

Just feed me, okay?

What a great snowy Sunday. I had some trouble driving to the horses, so I hope I can make it to the office tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed your weather and don’t get blizzards or something. As we learned in Madrid this weekend, snow is not all fun and beauty.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures! Wow, that is BEAUTIFUL. We had a few snoflakes here, but nothing that would stick, not even overnight … Ah well. Maybe later. 😉 The donkey is super cute!! (I hope it is a donkey, in the last picture?) Please tell him I’ve said hi!

  2. Loved reading about the snow, but I don’t want to be out in it. Possibility tomorrow when I’m going to take a friend to the airport…. I hope. May be the only time my Subaru is ever in snow, though!
