I’m in a car, so I have time for a few updates. Over at the Austin house, it’s been a good spring, thanks to all the rain. I’m really happy that all the perennial plants we got last year made it and have bloomed.

The Texas mountain laurel just had two blossoms, but it’s pretty small still. It’s growing now! Too bad I didn’t get photos.

I was really happy to see the Althea bush blossoming. It’s a beautiful plant. I love bicolor leaves, and the pink flowers have been great. It looks good all year.

But hey! The gardenia did not die! And it’s had lots of flowers! Anita figured out what kind of fertilizer it needed, and its new leaves are nice and green. Whew. I finally didn’t kill one.

And finally, the seeds I planted last year in a big pot surprised me. They had died down over the winter, but came back! Also the basil that was in there reproduced, too. Heck, it even had a baby in an empty pot!

We have a few new plants, too, so we will just see how they do.

The news is less good for my orchids. Some kind of scale or giant aphid got on them and made them sad and sticky. Anita and I have been trying various sprays, insecticidal soaps, and just rinsing them off. We think they are better.

We will update! Next I’ll share ranch doings.
Thanks for all the loveliness and and thoughts, Suna. 🙂
