Do You Have a Favorite Calf? I Do.

Here’s the whole family of cattle I can see from the house. I hope those clouds bring some rain.

Yesterday, I’d been lamenting that all the mamas and babies in the cattle herd had been put right behind our house, but I never got to see the cute little spotted calf I’ve been enjoying since the day they were born (still don’t know male or female).

I think it may be a female.

Today, though, I noticed that they were all in the back tank/pond, which still has a good amount of water in it, bathing and mooing. There was also a bonus creepy cow staring at me from within the willow trees. She looked menacing.

I’m watching you, human.

But there was my little woolly, spotted friend, watching his mama take a bath. I went outside and hoped the dogs wouldn’t bark at them, but hooray, they’re used to them now, and Carlton and Penney just looked. I borrowed Lee’s fancy new camera…I mean, phone. I figured it would be a good test of the new functionality, but in the end, all I did was take a movie and get some nice, clear photos.

The little guy is just so cute. Fuzzy like a stuffed animal, and spotted like one of our horses. If I had a cow, that would be the one I’d want. It could hang out with the horses. I know I’m dreaming, and the Vrazels would not sell me a pet calf. But it’s my Christmas dream.

Here’s my cute little profile.
Notice how my friend is practically invisible.

  1. People have pet cows.! My mom kept a pet cow or two on their farm. There is a lady in texas that has whole pet herds. Our neighbor is keeping a totally pet cow for a pet. The calves are like playful dogs and so innocent.
