Birds May 2025

Here are the birds observed at the Hermits’ Rest in May 2025. They were either identified by Merlin Bird ID or by sight. WOW! There were a lot of birds here this month, 129! Once more, there were days I identified more than fifty birds, and that’s with much wind and much-needed rain. There were 11 new species, which hasn’t happened since I was just getting started. It helps that the warblers were still migrating through. New ones at the ranch included American Redstart, a Bald Eagle that was here nearly a week, Bay-breasted Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler, Laughing Gulls (flyover), Magnolia Warbler, Mississippi Kite, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Semi-palmated Plover, Tricolored Heron, and Willow Flycatcher.
