Birds June 2025

Here are the birds observed at the Hermits’ Rest in June 2025. They were either identified by Merlin Bird ID or by sight. The bird count went down by 40 species, which is no surprise, since migration is over and it’s now hot. The birds who are here are raising babies, including quite a clutch of Green Herons, and a nestful of Barn Swallows who aren’t happy with the new screened porch being built. New birds this month were a cute Black-necked Stilt (they all are cute), Cooper’s Hawk, which I’ve seen elsewhere, and the Northern Parula, which is one of my very favorite warblers.
