For the past few years, I’ve missed business trips. I’m glad I joined Master Naturalists, so at least I have one conference to attend each year, but I always get so much out of seeing old friends and meeting new people that I miss the old days when I traveled more.

Thus, I was pretty stoked when I found out that a requirement of being a member of the Friends of La Leche League Board is to attend their organization’s trip to a fun place every other year (the other year, they meet at a conference for one of La Leche League’s local affiliates, usually Texas).
This year, we are going to New Orleans in November. This, of course, assumes the city will still be there after so much bad weather, but at least it’s after hurricane season. I’ve been rather amazed at exactly how much planning these trips take. There is so much to consider! They have to come up with fun things to do and good places to eat, without making the registration too costly. That is not easy. I am very impressed with the hard work and patience the trip planners, Carroll and Evy, have exhibited.
I’d say most of each monthly Board meeting involves the trip, so I’m telling you this: if you want to join me there, you will have a good time, and your needs will have been anticipated. I know a couple of my good friends are planning to go, but I’m trying to do a media blitz to encourage others I’ve known in La Leche League to join us. In addition to the thrill of seeing ME, you’ll get to see LLL Founder Marian Tompson, and many women you’ve heard of through the years.
I admit I had to budget pretty hard for the trip, since we are putting all our funds into the Hearts, Homes and Hands business and the real estate stuff, but I discovered inexpensive plane fares, and realized many of the meals are paid in the registration packet, so it’s not too bad. If I HAVE to go on a trip, this is a good one!
I’m looking forward to having a real visit to New Orleans, which I haven’t done since I was married to my late first husband in the 1980s. This will be more touristy, but I’m going to enjoy it! Won’t you come along? Here’s the registration link!
You don’t have to be an LLL former member, Leader, member or any other associate to come on the trip, though I personally would love for you to join Friends of LLL so you can read the exciting Continuum newsletter I’m editing. And if you aren’t an LLL friend, I have a couple other trips up my sleeve for the fall, so those of you near Dallas or Hilton Head, get ready!
