Traveling is good for you, duh

I was pleased to be able to drag my friend Anita out of her house and on an adventure with me to the condos on Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I didn’t go last year and I’m glad I dragged myself, too. This will be my first actual vacation in a long time. No work will be done!

50 years after graduating high school, here we are.

We went from Austin to Anita’s favorite city, Baltimore, and finally to Myrtle Beach. I’d never flown here. It’s a nice place. The trip was long, but I did enjoy airplane WiFi and got to do many, many crossword puzzles on the plane. I recommend getting the extra legroom on Southwest. It was pleasant.

We even met a cute dog with a very large tongue.

I survived driving a rental car to the condos, then sort of collapsed after the arduous check-in process that was all my fault. We lived.

Nothing revived me like a trip to the bar to find my favorite bartender was still there. We met a new friend , too, and ate pizza. Anita and I both had a good evening. onward for more of the same this week. I’m so happy Anita’s back going places with me again!

Home Looks Good

Amazing! Flying on a holiday I had two flights that left on time and arrived early. Even the shuttle to the airport was prompt and arrived early. The lines at security were quick and efficient. plus I enjoyed looking at cute prairie dogs on the way into Denver. They were leaping and bouncing around their little villages.

I have nothing to complain about except someone took my window seat and left me next to an unhappy baby from Denver to Dallas. That’s ok. Actually the mother’s extremely loud shushing noises were as annoying as the baby. The woman in front of the baby-mother pair noticeably startled more than once and kept looking back to see what was going on.

I just closed my eyes and dreamed of Texas skies.

In any case, Lee came and got me so I’m reunited with all the animals. I look forward to returning to my routine. I just hope my stamina comes back, because airporting exhausted me.

Here’s a little health note. The app on my phone just informed me that my resting heartbeat was up ten beats per minute for the last 13 days. Guess what that coincides with? Covid. hmm.

Travel to the Rockies

I spent all day traveling, but it was pretty good. I always like plane travel. Since I don’t do it often, I find it fun. I go back to being a little kid when plane travel was glamorous.

I got a good bit of knitting done, and people watched happily at the Austin, Dallas, and Denver. On the flight to Denver I really enjoyed the women I sat with. We had conversations about elderly parents and wanting them to be safe and stay in their homes, about horses, and so much more. Such nice people. The one who had to put her parents in assisted living was so beautiful and caring.

This dude reflected my mood after waiting in baggage claim in Denver.

The only bad thing was that my shuttle was 4 hours after I arrived. I did a lot of walking around and knitting. I headed outside quite early, but the guy arrived early. I was the only passenger, so off we went. We talked the whole way.

Jim is a classical guitar player and teacher, whose politics and spiritual views are just like mine. So, even though I didn’t get to see much, because it was dark, I had an excellent trip to Breckenridge.

And yay, I have a new temporary home. It has a desk for my 6 am calls!

I got to the condo place at 8 pm Mountain time. That’s 9 Central, so I’m tired. Tomorrow the fun starts. My friend and her husband are going to drive me around!

I’m looking forward to the cool weather. It was 73 in Denver and 36 here in the mountains. That’s altitude!
